Fishing leisure activities
In the heart of the Périgord Noir, the Vézère, the cradle of humanity, is bordered by impressive cliffs overlooking the river. Fish abound in this sumptuous landscape. White fish (roach, bleak, chub) and carnivorous fish (pike, pike-perch and perch).
- Our private pond at Saint-Chabran (2 hectares of shady parkland) is designed for free fishing (no map required), walking or simply relaxing in the shade of the many poplar trees (1.5 km from the hotel).
- The Vézère river is less than 100 metres from the hotel, and fishing is permitted with a fishing licence. Fishing cards on sale at Montignac (+33 05 53 50 06 85).
Walking in the Dordogne
There are more than 1,130 km of long-distance footpaths (GR) in the Périgord. These include the GR 36, which runs alongside the prehistoric sites of the Vézère valley. Numerous loops have been created along the valley's footpaths, some of which leave directly from the village of Thonac. Don't forget that these routes can also be used for other activities, such as horse riding and mountain biking.
